Erik Kriek's latest graphic novel is a contemporary work of magical realism, that is not set in the dark forests of North America (In the Pines, Fantagraphics, 2017), nor in the cold hills of medieval Iceland (TheExile, Living the Line, 2023), but in the rural countryside of the Netherlands.
